Weber's USA Trip 2018
The last big day of driving. From Monterey we went south, back to Santa Barabara. There we want to spend the last days on the beach, before we have to return the RV on Wednesday. To lighten up the ride we visited on the way our probably second last National Park, the "Pinnacles". The rather unknown park offers some nice walks and one of them was our destination. It is a circular walk of about 4km in length, which leads through a cave at the end. The special thing about it: the cave is not in a mountain, but is formed by huge boulders lying in a valley.
It was a pleasant hike at not too high temperatures. And the cave was really an experience. With flashlights, we searched for our way and we were a bit reminiscent of the "Fiery Furnace" in Arches. We were glad to have made the detour.
After that we drove south to Santa Barbara. Incidentally, we could not take the picturesque "Route 1" along the coast as the road was interrupted last year due to a landslide and will only be open to traffic again in September.
In Santa Barbara we had a slot on the same campground we were on a week ago. Thus, the (almost) daily search for a place to stay is finally over. I have to say, I'm not unhappy about it. It was not always easy to find a suitable place that suited everyone. So we have experienced ups and downs, but on the whole it has always somehow worked out.
Now the last days are coming and tomorrow we start with the first packing. We are curious if we get everything in the suitcases :)
P.S.: The last national park will most likely be the "Niagra Falls National Park" (if it fits into the program somehow).
