Yiiiiiiiieeeeehaaaaaaaaaaa!
Today we met Angela and Glenn, two friends we only knew from the Internet untill today. The two of them drove to our camping ground and when we finally met, they were so friendly and warmly, we felt welcomed right awawy. We first chit-chatted a bit at the RV untill we packed up and prepared to leave for today.
Angela and Glenn took us to Fort Worth, the twin city to Dallas. There is a historical district making you relive the wild west. We saw a cattle run (with Texas Longhorns, cows with huge horns) and after that a wild-west show with rope tricks, trick shooting and acrobatic riding. Unfortunately there weren't too many spectators, so the ambience wasn't too greatt. But still impressive to us.
After the show we were all hungry and went for dinner in a great steak restaurant. The kids got some chicken tender pieces with fries (and Yannic some ribs), while the adults ordered a texan specialty: chicken fried steak. It's a steak, pounded to be real soft and then fried in a batter. Really tasty, although a bit "unhealthy" :).
Following dinner we took a little shopping trip and the kids got some real cowboy hats. And then the next huge attraction: a real rodeo! No show, but a real competition with price money. The disciplines were as entertaining as they were strange and new to us: bull riding (where they have to keep riding a bull for at least 8 seconds), bronco riding (same as the bull riding, but with wild horses and different kind of saddles), barrel riding (where the cowgirls ride around 3 barrells as fast as possible) or tie roping (to catch calves as fast as possible and tie their legs together with a lasso). It was very exciting and impressive and we all had a lot of fun.
Since it was already late, we went on our way back. Angela and Glenn were perfect hosts. Not only were they VERY generous and basically paid for the whole day, they also explained everything to us and treated us like old friends. It was such a great day and we look forward to tomorrow, when we meet them again for a BBW. And then we will also met chicks...
Thank you Angela and Glenn for such an awesome, great day.
