After a little sleep in, we started the day with a bit of work on the blog and the diaries. The last few days have been quite busy with activities, so it was easy to fall behind. And while I was writing, we got to know our neighbors. A senior couple in a huge RV. Nicole came into a conversation with the woman and we were allowed to take a look into their RV. Really awesome and a great interior. The woman originally came from Germany (55 years ago) and was even able to still speak some german.
We talked excitedly until we unfortunately had to stop due to the time. We still wanted to go to town and they were invited for a birthday party. But we were pleasantly surprised. The man offered to drive us into the city. We did not have to walk 30 minutes to a bus stop. Super nice of them.
Arrived in Santa Barbara, we spent the day mainly with shopping and sight-seeing. The city was really nice compared to other American cities with its own flair. No McDonalds and subways on every corner. The idea of ??a homeless man was also brilliant: next to the pier (over which all tourists stroll) he set up a kind of "shooting range" with paper plates and cups. There you could throw coins and either wish something ("Make A Wish"), express your opinion ("Do UFO's exist?", "Is Abortion ok?") Or even become political and vote for the best / worst president. And people had fun throwing coins to "complain" about Trump's wall or just trying to score a touchdown. We thought that was a lot more original than simply begging and, of course, also threw some coins.
I also used the day to go to a barber. My beard looked something like from a bigfoot for a while. But the nice hipster brought him back into shape and now I'm no longer considered a Yeti. In the evening we went for pizza and then took the taxi back to the RV place. Tired but happy, because it was really a great day in a great city.
There was a small downer today, however: In Yosemite Park all campsites are currently closed because they are in danger of flooding. For Monday we would actually have a place there (the last one we could get hold of), and now it's still unclear if we can even get there. That will only be clear tomorrow, during the course of the day. We are curious and will adapt the program accordingly.
We will keep you up to date!
