Weber's USA Trip 2018
Today we finally went to New York! The children were looking forward to the city, about which we had told them so much. We started relatively early and since it was Sunday, we even ventured into the city by car. I have to admit, I was extremely nervous and tense. But it turned out to be not as bad as I thought. We drove through the Lincoln Tunnel into the city and found an affordable parking. Then we walked up to Bruno's house, the uncle of Nicole we had already met in Florida. Also with him was Teri, his girlfriend, who had came from Florida, also to see the children once again.
Later Daniela, Jimmy and Sacha joined in and then Andrea came too. She is Nicole's second cousin and actually lives in Zurich. But we had not seen her for years and it was all the funnier that she's in New York at the same time. We did not plan it, it was just a coincidence.
Together we all went to a cafe for brunch and then we strolled through the huge city. We visited the "High Line", an old, elevated railroad that was converted into a park, and then walked through the "Village" and "Soho" to the 9/11 Memorial. With Zoé and Yannic I drove up to the "One World Observatory", a vantage point on the 100th floor of the new building. From there we had a breathtaking view over Manhattan and the whole agglomeration.
With the subway we went to Time Square, before we hiked back to the car. It was a tiring but super nice day. New York is just terrific and for the kids the huge skyscrapers were an experience.
On Wednesday Nicole and I probably go back, but then without the children. A last shopping trip is planned (some souvenirs and gifts are still missing), before we fly back on Thursday.
