Weber's USA Trip 2018
First camper day!!!
In the morning we had to finish packing and then we went off to the camper rental office. After we arrived, we dropped the lugagge and Eugen went to bring back the rental car with Yannic and Gregory. We came back with the taxi to the rental office to welcome our rented RV. First we had to deal with all the paperwork and then we got an instruction in the live as a camper. There were a lot of new things we had to learn, like "blackwater" (fecals), "grey water" (water from the sinks/shower), "freshwater" (to drink) and a lot more. Hopefully we remember all when we need it ...
After the instruction we had to load all the luggage and store everythin in the cabinets. Since we didn't want to live out of the suitcases for 8 weeks, we had to unpack/store everything and we still had to shop. The thought about having to park the huge RV to shop was making Eugen a bit nervous... but it turned out to be easy-peasy. We drove to a publix (food chain in the US) and just parked over two slots all the way in the back, where we weren't in the way of anyone. The huge parking lots in the US really helped :)
After shopping our food stock for the next days we drove off towards our first camping ground. The drive was VERY adventurous. With the big 30-Foot-Camper (approx. 9 meters long) the drive was very nerve wracking. Every blow of wind (even just a passing truck) shook the camper and one has to be 100% concentrated at all times. I (Eugen) was glad when we arrived at the camping ground "Crystal River". Since we arrived after the office hours, we had to call a ranger by using a walkie-talkie and he let us in for the night. He escorted us to the slot we rented for 3 nights and we were happy when everything (fresh water, power, TV and sewage) was connected and ready. The ground itself was very clean with a huge pool, laundry facilities and good sanitary installations. We would enjoy the 3 days till we meet Bruno/Teri on sunday.
