Weber's USA Trip 2018
Transfer day!
Today we left the east coast and started our road trip towards the western coast, in the direction of Tampa. There we wanted to meet Stefan, the cousin of Nicole. The journey brought us through the everglades, along a canal and straight through a cypress forest. We looked out for alligators in the wild but in the beginning we didn't had a lot of luck.
Suddenly the kids saw the first wild gators, peacefully lying in the water or on land. And their numbers grew. Soon we saw them in every little bay. While taking a short break in a "Welcome Center" we even saw one walking over the parking lot. We were fascinated. Untill then we only knew them from zoo's and the alligator farm we visited.
We continued to drive westwards and soon arrived in Nales, a beautiful little village on the coast of the gulf of mexico. We changed our direction towards the north and continued untill we reached Clearwater, a small town next to Tampa. At last we arrived at our hotel, but were a bit shocked at first. The hotel looked very shabby from the outside and we worried if we would be able to stay here for 3 days. But after the check-in we were pleasently surprised. The rooms were freshly renovated and pretty spacy. One of the rooms the owners called a "suite". It was VERY big with a lot of space for all of our luggage, inkl. a little kitchen. We used the fridge a lot, but after discovering a cockroach in one of the cupboards, we decided to not use the plates :)
Right after the check-in we went to visit Stefan and were greeted with a great meal of venison, corn bread and potatoes. We discussed the plans for the next days and soon after went to the hotel to get some rest.
