Weber's USA Trip 2018

"I'm gonna be Iron like a Lion in Zion" ... the lyrics by Bob Marley circled my head all day as we made our way to Zion National Park. We left Cannonville and headed south to the final destination Virgin, a small town just south of the entrance to Zion. The most exciting thing about the trip was the end. The road passed through two tunnels, the first being a normally passable passageway. The second one was too small to allow large vehicles (including our RV) to pass in oncoming traffic. That's why you have to buy a special permit ($ 15). The tunnel is then closed to oncoming traffic and you drive through in a convoy in the middle of the tunnel. Unfortunately, there are also waiting times for oncoming traffic, but since the tunnel is not too long, it didn't take too much time. It was also exciting, since the tunnels in the US apparently all are not lit. This is a little more spooky than a trip through a tunnel in Switzerland.

The camping ground then compensated us for a lot. The many good reviews were right, it presented itself clean and with generous facilities. The children immediately felt comfortable and even attended an event in the evening where they painted little wooden snakes. They had a lot of fun and the evening was harmonious. We were looking forward to visiting Zion Park the next day.
