Weber's USA Trip 2018

Already at 06:00h the alarm clock rang, in the first dusk. The children tormented themselves from the beds and dressed more or less motivated. It was very early and pretty cool. Bravely we started in the direction of "Mirror Lake". The walk was pleasant, but apart from a few squirrels and birds, unfortunately, there were no animals. So we arrived at the lake, where the surrounding mountains were reflected. It was quiet and idyllic, before later the big bustle of the hikers would break out.

After a short rest we walked on the path a little further, and suddenly saw a deer eating in front of us. We took pictures and then proceeded carefully and quietly. And the deer looked up but made no move to run away. So we came closer and closer and were at the end only about 3m away from him. It eyed us suspiciously, but didn't flee. So we could watch it a little bit before we went on. Either this was the coolest deer in the world, or it was already used to hikers.

A little later we decided to turn back, as we did not know how far this path would go. Later, it turned out to be the right decision, because the path would have continued for many miles. So we passed the deer again and then headed back to the campground. Here was already more activity, as the other campers rose slowly and more and more tourists from outside arrived.

We had breakfast and rested again for a bit. Then we drove off with the camper and enjoyed being in no hurry. The next campground was only about 30 minutes outside the park and the travel time so manageable. After the night in the wilderness (no electricity, no water, no sewage) we were looking forward to a little bit of "luxury". The campground was very pleasant. Extremely clean showers / toilets, generous pitches and above all an open (but cold) pool for the kids. In addition, there were very few visitors, which meant a pleasant rest.

We still worked on the blog / diaries and ended the day with a campfire, hot dogs and s'mores.
