A new work day. Not very eventful for the blog. So today again a new list:
3 things that annoy me in America.
- Waste: It's unbelievable how much waste is lying around here. And unfortunately also in villages and cities. You drive through a town, see some nice houses, and suddenly an abandoned lot with a rotten house and the whole garden full of rubbish. Or you see a beautiful property, with a great big garden, and behind the house a garbage dump with old cars and rusty washers. This is a pity.
- The missing variety: Sure, it's great if you can find a Subway or McDonalds in every city. But on the other hand, these big chains also destroy the individuality of the cities. There is almost no difference visible between cities in different states. Everywhere the same gas stations, the same restaurants, the same goods markets and the same style in the houses. It is striking when cities are a little different, such as Naples in Florida or Moab in Utah.
- The ignorance of persons: This is of course not an American problem, but a general one nowadays. You are in a National Park and see dozens of signs, you should not leave the paths, because it disturbs the delicate nature. And what happens? Everywhere people stand out in the forbidden area, taking selfies and tramping through the bushes. As I said, it's not just in the US, but maybe we're more upset here.
