Weber's USA Trip 2018
Today was not really entertaining. The work on the diaries and the daily routine on the camping ground let the day pass pretty fast. But there wasn't really happening a lot to tell. So today, I'm going to do something different:
5 Things I love about the US:
- the cheap food: Of course a meal for 6 people still costs some money. But a visit to Subway in Switzerland costs around 100 CHF (approx. 90 USD) easily. While here we pay around 40 USD in average. So it's nice to be able to eat at a restaurant a bit more often.
- the shopping times: I agree, for the poeple working in sales it's not always a pleasure to work certain hours. But for us on the trip it's very handy to be able to shop on sundays and in the evenings.
- the huge parking lots: In the US they have a lot of space. So much space, that the most shopping centres and outlets have huge parking lots, so even with the 30-foot RV you always get a spot. That would be unthinkable in Switzerland.
- the open, nice people: There are a lot of prejudices about americans (and most likely they have them towards us as well), but untill now, we only met very welcoming, open and friendly people. On the campinggrounds we were welcomed heartly and with a very open mind. Truly awesome.
- the landscapes: Over here, everything is truly bigger. Forests and meadows are huge and often stretch out to the horizon. It's unthinkable for us in Switzerland. And if you're not on an interstate, you can often drive for miles and miles without seeing a lot of civilization. Very impressive.
Of course there are more things we love here, like the cheap gas, the new and unknown animals and plants and of course the freedom to drive with the RV wherever we want. And we are sure to find more thinks to look forward too soon.
