Weber's USA Trip 2018

We wanted to tackle today's "interim day" comfortably. We slept until about 08:00h and then slowly got ready. The first thing we looked for in Moab was a place where we could buy propane gas for the camper. Apparently this is not so easy. The most named place ("Farm Market") had none at the moment ("Out of order") and the other tips were unsuccessful. Only on another RV park we found it. Afterwards we drove towards "Canyonlands National Park".

The first stop was the "Dead Horse Point State Park". We were rewarded with an amazing view on the Colorado River, which meandered down through the canyon. We also ate our lunch there (we were a bit late) and then drove to the National Park. Unlike the Arches, it was not that crowded, but we still could not find a place for our RV at one of the stops (Mesa Arch). So we drove to the Upheaval Dome, from where one could do a hike to two viewpoints. We parked and marched off. The path was steep, but not hard to walk. So we easily reached the top and saw the impressive crater. It is not quite sure how it came about, but current theories think it was most likely a meteorite impact.

As we progressed so well we decided to visit the second overlook point. The way there was a bit more adventurous and exhausting, but we made it without major problems. The second viewpoint then offered another spectacular view. What we also discovered was a forgotten backpack filled with water and even a walkie-talkie. We looked around to find the owner, but saw no one around. So we decided to take it downstairs and leave it at the Visitor Center.

Suddenly, however, we saw two people coming from further away (off the path). Presumably they had stored the backpack, so we waited a moment to ask. But it was not the owners of the backpack, it was Kevin and Harvey. In the most unlikely and unbelievable place we actually met again. It was just amazing. Two German tourists could then take a group picture of us and only too gladly we exchanged the e-mail addresses. Together we made the descent before we finally said goodbye. The next day they would go to Salt Lake City and fly back from there. It was so great that we met them again and got our picture.

On the way back it was now less crowded in the parking lot at the "Mesa Arch" and so we wanted to visit arch. The path was unproblematic and the view through the arch was magnificent. That while we were there Kevin and Harvey suddenly appeared was almost logical ;) Back at the car park, there was definitely the last "Good Bye" and we drove back to the campsite. Tomorrow, the hike to the "Fiery Furnace" is about to begin. Unfortunately, the weather forecast is bad, but we take what comes.

P.S .: We found the owner of the backpack in the parking lot. He was very happy to have it back.
