Out West Wanderings II

The day dawned dark and dreary with a little sprinkle of rain, but before 9:00 the sun was out, and the sky had cleared. I had a ride scheduled with Jennifer, but she didn’t come. Dan headed out on the trail to the pink house, while I waited until 10:15 to see if she showed.
When I decided it was a no-show, I headed out gaiting Blaze to see if I could catch up with Dan. He had just turned around at the pink house and was heading back when I ran into him. We decided to go back past the house and try to find the trail that goes up above the home.
The trail we picked was littered with rocks and hard for the horses, but it got better as we climbed. This trail runs right up to the ridge of the foothill and then across, coming down steeply on the other side.

The property was pretty to look at from above and I took a few photos.
When we got back to camp the horses were wet with sweat and they did their favorite thing to dry off. They rolled. We watched to make sure they didn’t overdrink while they were hot. Pearl seems to be much better. We are adding loose salt to her grain now to help with drinking. When horses don’t drink well, colic is a possibility. I also found some prebiotics and probiotics for Peral and I think we are going to try them out when we get back. They basically have the same ingredients as human probiotics except in larger doses.

God bless you.
Pam
