Out West Wanderings II

The rain started last night. And at noon it is still coming down. Now it is 2:00 and raining harder than ever. Because of the way the water runs off the sand into the washes, we will not be moving our camper for a couple of days. The road out is filled with ruts and runoff. I am just glad that our camper and trailer are on higher ground.

We were going to ride a short one today, but that is out. Probably the best for Pearl, anyway. She didn’t eat anything earlier in the week and this will give her yet another day to gain.

Yesterday, I went for a desert walk. This time I was looking for spring flowers. Our campsite is at the base of the last of the foothills before the Superstition mountains. Jax and I hiked up to the top of it and took photos as we went. (They will be posted on Facebook)
There were quite a few blooming plants and at the top of the lower foothill I found a cairn. People like to build them to let you know you weren’t the first to be there.

Jax and I went down the back of the foothill and around to get back to our horse camp. It was a nice hike in beautiful weather. I am hoping that this weather stops, and it dries out before Monday so that Dan and I can ride together for the first time in the Superstitions. We have been here a week already….

Blessings on you with snow. I know that is worse than rain.
