Out West Wanderings II

We were out of Robber’s Cave camp early looking for the office. There were no signs pointing to one anywhere. I ended up calling them after we got onto the highway. The woman who answered was obviously surprised and pleased that we were being responsible. She thanked me more than once.

The ride was uneventful, but we did not stop and get the horses out today. We had a good 8-hour drive before pulling into Village Creek State Park.

This is the only place we have been that they check the Coggins and horse description against the real horse. I even had to take off my horse’s face mask so she could check the face markings. Pearl has no distinguishing marks. I am sure this is because people try to move stolen horses cross state lines to resell.

We chose the same camper site and stalls as we did the last time we were here in January. It feels about as cold as it did then. I called ahead to make sure that Ahler’s Ranch would have a place for us. We did not want to rent the Tack Room apartment this time because of expenses and it was a good thing since there is someone in it tomorrow night. We asked to keep the horses outside, too. That way they (or we) won’t disturb those who are staying in the barn.

The drive is one of the longer ones from Village Creek to Ahler’s Ranch, so we are going to try to get going an hour early. Plus, there will be another time change making us seem to have driven an hour longer than we had.

Almost done with this blog. Two more days and we are home.

Blessed always,
Pam
