I was glad I had put the horse’s blankets on them last night. It rained and got cold. I feel bad for the groups of teens that came in yesterday and spent the night out in the wilderness. I sure hope they had warm sleeping bags and tents. They are not back yet and it is 5:30 pm. Maybe they are staying out for another night.
Pearl was back to normal this morning, but because of the rain, we wouldn’t be taking a ride. It rained all day and just quit at supper time. Dan cooked tonight. We had pot pie and fruit along with fresh bread.
Days like this are perfect for baking and painting. I got out the sourdough starter and made a fresh loaf of bread. I am getting better at it each time I try. We also had sour dough pancakes made from some of the discarded starter.
I wasn’t sure I wanted to keep the starter going, but it is convenient when we are camping. I will be bringing some home to a friend who asked for it.
The tiger pan pastel was about half-way done and I finished it today. I am pleased with the results. The green background compliments the color of him. I do not have a mat or frame the correct size. I am covering it with a sheet of glassine to protect it until I can buy what I need.

Woody's campground - Gila

I also played with watercolors today. I did a sunset on water scene, a bird and a teddy bear cactus. I had finished up a desert sunset last night and used watercolor and ink on it.
Other than reading and taking care of the horses, nothing else happened today.
Tomorrow, our friends, Vicky and Jeff are supposed to drive up from Catalina. It will be nice to see them again. It will take them all day to get here, so we hope to ride the horses up to the Gila Cliff Dweller Welcome Center. Dan was there already to buy a map and said they have a lot of neat things there. I think I will buy a book on the history of the cliff dwellers to read.
Hoping for a nice day tomorrow.
Blessings, Pam
