Out West Wanderings II

I should have known when I saw the word "resort" in the Horspitality RV Resort and Boarding Stables sign. Not only was this a VERY expensive place to stay, but the owner didn't have much hospitality.
I thought I was set for the horses because I had Doc. Seblink do the Health Certificate on the 7th of January and we left Pennsylvania on the 16th. Horspitality's rules are you must have a Health Certificate within 20 days of arrival. We were off by four days.

They also didn't accept the Coggin's certificate. In all other state borders that we crossed a Coggin's test negative was good for a year from the date of blood drawn. Here at Horspitality they will not accept it unless it is dated within 6 months of our arrival.

Needless to say, I was pretty upset about this turn of events. So I asked about what their refund policy was and she said there was no refund for anybody, especially this time of the year. That alone made no sense to me because this is their busiest time of the year when the snowbirds bring their horses to warmer weather.

I won't tell you the total cost of the 2 week stay, but it is more than I paid for my horse! So, there was no way we could forfeit that money.
In the end, she put us in "quarantine" pens. We are not allowed to be around other horses and we must call a vet to run another Coggin's and do a vet check. $$$ :-(

Now, I know I am prejudiced because we have been camping in wilderness areas in the wide open spaces, but we are 15 feet away from RVs on either side of us. The horses are a long ways away in open pipe stalls next to our horse trailer. The trail out is not far from them, so that is a plus. If we are “caught” anywhere near other horses we will be "kicked out", unquote.

I will let you know how the riding is tomorrow.....it better be great.
God help my attitude,
Pam
