Out West Wanderings II

Today is the day we met cousin John and his wife Sandy for lunch in Wickiup. I always thought that name was so funny. The word apparently comes from a form like wiikiyaapi or wikiyapy meaning "lodge" or "house". So a Wickiup is a dwelling place.

The trip was only about an hour and 10 minutes from Wickenburg. The place was called Luchia's and was a combination gift shop and restaurant. I had a Philly cheese sandwich and potato salad with the best black walnut cream pie for desert.

Sandy had brought the Phantom spray for me that I sent Prime to her house in Kingman. I ordered two spray cans and am determined to get rid of these ants. They haven't been so bad the last couple of nights because it has gotten down to thirty degrees and they aren't active in the cold. Because of the reception we had when we arrived, I am worried that if anyone sees us spraying around the outside of our camper, they may think we have bedbugs or something and report us. This place has made me paranoid, I know.

After we ate, we went out into the garden at Luchia's. It would be nice, except the temperature was very cold and even the fountain had icicles hanging from it! I felt sorry for the koi and peacocks that were there. People at Horspitality are teasing us about bringing this cold weather. But even so, there were flowers starting to bloom on the side of the road.

Today we got the Coggin's tests back. They now say we can ride with everyone. So tomorrow I am excited to meet some of the horsemen here.

Tomorrow is looking up!
Blessings, Pam
