Today was a perfect day for a trail ride, cool and sunny. We trailered down Peralta to the trail head. Dan had been studying the maps and decided that we would take the Lost Dutchman trail over to where it crossed with another trail.
On the way through 4 places where the washes crossed the road and they had water running. This was still run off from the storm on Friday night and Saturday. None were too deep, so we were able to drive through. We parked in the horse trailer lot right in front of a sheer rock cliff. I can't tell how tall it is, but I took photos so you can see.
After saddling up and putting Jax in his box, we rode over to the sign in station. Everyone who goes out into the Wilderness area has to say where you are going and how many are with you. This is in case you lose your way. At least they know where you might be.
These trails were different from all the others in the desert because there were actual streams with water in them. Not just a wash with sand. We were able to give water to our horses.
Although there were many more hikers than rider, we did meet some horse people. I asked one of the groups if they knew the names of any of the rocks. The formations we were near had names like "Teddy Bear" and "Eye of the Needle".
We made the 6-mile trip in just a couple hours. Pearl did give some signs of stress so we gave her the Outlast and some Aloe Vera when we got back to the camper. She did well with no colic.
I want to take a longer ride if she can tolerate it. This place is so beautiful.

Tomorrow we ride again.
