Out West Wanderings II

We slept easier last night because Dr. Susan was so encouraging about Pearl. I only got up twice to check on her. Once at 2:00 am and then again at 5:00 am. SHE STILL DIDN'T POOP!

Dan left in the morning to buy yet another grain that is supposed to care for the ulcers. And he bought Tums, which Dr. Susan said we could give 100 in one day!! She recommended using them as treats. Well, Pearl stuck her nose up at that idea, like she had all the other things we had tried to give her.

We were giving one cup of the new feed to her along with the Aloe Vera juice and one dose of electrolytes. And we repeatedly walked her every hour for 10 minutes. I texted the vet to let her know where we were in this ongoing saga.

She said the last thing to do was to let her have her hay. She felt that there just wasn't enough in her 100 foot intestine to push through the oil she had given her. So we let her eat hay for 15 minutes and looked for signs of pain. There was none. So every hour we are letting her eat for 15 minutes along with the rice bran, Purina Outlast and Aloe Vera.

This vacation is turning out to be more of a veterinarian basics school than a trail riding adventure. We are sure learning a lot.

Today I had time to get out the pastels and play around with the

Today I had time to get out the pastels and play around with the

mountain scene in front of me.

Sure hope that the oil shows up soon!
