Watt Knot Travels

Our first week of country living. Nestled in between farms amongst the cattle & potent country smells. Oddly we have an ice-cream farm across the road. Doh! Wrong season to enjoy that.
Let's catch the village bus into Chester. After testing the perimeter of the marina for the best escape route, we worked out if we squeezed around the fence & got onto the towpath, the bus stop was a 10 min walk.
I feel like I'm living in Pontypandy as the bus approaches. Its Trevor & his bus! Now, you would have to had children in the 90s to understand this reference, as of course every child surely watched Fireman Sam. The tiny bus is full of octogenarians, all willing to help those "Australians" reach their destination. We sit listening to the banter going on engrossed in the daily gossip as we meander through neighbouring villages picking up more oldies. That was my entertainment for the week. Well worth the £4.95 bus ticket.

Can't be in the UK without being obsessed with the weather. Yes, its

colder this week. I religiously watch the weather report to work out how many layers are needed today. I'm checking out what people are wearing on their feet. What do they wear to keep those tootsies warm. Am I going to get frostbite when the snow comes?
I am proud of myself this week. I have been outside in 5°c. I find it best not to look at the temperature gauge, otherwise my body goes into shock & refuses to leave the boat. I'm up to 4 layers this week with compulsory beanie, gloves & scarf. We braved the weather, got on the bikes & conquered the "Beast". Beeston Castle that is. Another castle on a ridiculously high hill. I need pub resuscitation.
