Watt Knot Travels

Good things have happened this week. We had visitors Yay! Spring is nearly here, I got my brain back again after it was flu infested & the countdown is on til we escape Stalag 13.
And the winner of the first rellies to visit us on Watt Knot goes to Maureen, Mark, Jo, Josh & Jake. We escaped onto the cut where Josh learnt the ropes of being a helmsman. Made a very keen Captains Mate. No time for chillin like the adults, he had to get back to work & drive the boat. Even with Josh's sudden steering skills we still could not get past Wharton's Lock, so failed any impromptu escape. Our next escape date shows more promise as the lock is supposed to be operational on Sat 9th March. After much map oogling, we are going north, no south, no north. Our first target is as far north on the Lancaster canal. That's if I don't have a meltdown traversing the tidal Ribble Link. It just occurred to me the other day; we have spent more time in the marina than we have on the cut. Doesn't say a lot for gained experience ??. I have to remind myself that I am an intrepid explorer that is fearless.
Afforded ourselves the luxury of hiring a car for the last 2 weekends of our confinement to go shopping! I am suitably restrained these days & can walk past a clothes shop without wincing too much. We were after more practical things like storage

boxes for the lockers. Also gave us a chance to see some things still on the bucket list like Port Sunlight. Home to the employees of Lever Bros (now known globally as Unilever) who built the village & named it after their star product - Sunlight soap. Great little social community who were the first to book the Beatles with their new drummer Ringo Starr at their community hall.
