We broke up our week & charged our batteries by travelling to the end of the line to Ellesmere Port where we meet the Mersey &
Manchester Ship Canal. The canal finishes at the National Waterways Musuem of which you can moor in overnight. All locked up in a museum with the ghosts of a bygone era. How peaceful now, but the photos in the museum show a bustling port full of activity. A tough life. One of those ghosts was my 2x great grandfather who was here onboard a dredger on the census night of 5th April 1891.
