Watt Knot Travels

On our weekly shop in Chester we decided to visit the cathedral. Might as well cross it off the list while we can. Founded in 1092 as a Benedictine Abbey, we wandered around. I wanted to find the "elephant" carved on the end of the pew. Back then, no-one had seen an elephant, so it turned out to be a best-guess scenario.
I also read about George Marsh the only poor soul to be tried in the cathedral & condemned to burn at the stake as a heretic under the reign of the vengeful Queen (Bloody) Mary. He would not convert to Catholicism so died at the stake just outside Chester on 25th April 1555. To make sure his suffering was complete, they placed a barrel of tar over his head to drip on him while he burned. Such were the good old days! There is a monument to him, which we are going to find tomorrow.
Meanwhile, back at Stalag 13, I have scored a cleaning job. Obviously my cleaning skills are now known countrywide. Buddy Brian has a new toy that needs a bit of TLC. It's a campervan for all those places him & Daisy (beagle) can't reach by NB Beagle. I thought we should have named the van "Driving Miss Daisy".
Then it happened....I opened the blinds to see this white stuff had fallen from the sky overnight. Hmm, think I better stay inside today. It looks nice, but I have snow phobia. Had to tell Brian I

wasn't coming out to play today as it's too cold. He just laughed, basically called me a "Wuss" & that's how I was coaxed off the boat for my morning walk. It was a 4 layer morning & crunchy under foot, but mission accomplished.
The week finished with Australia Day. I lose track of days & suddenly I'm in a mad panic because it's here. Yes, I can do a barbie. We have a BBQ plate that goes over the cooktop. Aussie music playing, flags are flying. We are imagining being on the harbour on our boat. I invited our Mancunian friend Brian (no he's not from China) for an Aussie experience. We closed the day with "The Castle". Still causes a giggle.
