Watt Knot Travels

I figure Warwick must have been built in a ditch. The fact that I have to descend 25 locks to get there & face 23 to get out proves it. That's the price for wanting to see Warwick Castle. Ho hum, I guess I should just get on with it. Lucky for us, the lock descent to Warwick was shared by fellow boaters. If I could only be as lucky ascending!
We took the waters at Royal Leamington Spa firstly. That would be rainwater rather than spa water. The spas no longer exist, & the rain fell for most of our stay. The spas were well frequented from patrons all over the country at their height. A prescribed diet to accompany taking the waters included plain meat, stale bread, no fruit or veg. I wonder what their success rate was? Queen Victoria must have liked it as she gave consent for the town to be known as Royal Leamington Spa.
It was still raining when we left Saturday to get to Warwick. Currently moored in the Saltisford Arm for a few days primarily to see the castle & work out how to meet up with family. It can be a logistical nightmare. For £6 a night you can moor here & have access to water & electricity. Easy access also to the supermarket & the town centre. Time to plug into shore power to top up those batteries & get them equalised.
In my afternoon slumber I managed to knock a precious "Watt Knot" mug to the floor

where the handle promptly separated into 3. Humpf! Jonnie to the rescue with the superglue. Next thing I see the cup handle dangling from his finger. Is this the time we are destined for a hospital visit? I hope not. Off to that handy supermarket to buy nail polish remover to dissolve the glue. Well that was a lucky escape. He could have been wearing my mug handle for a few days if we were out in the countryside!
