Watt Knot Travels

Leaving the Macclesfield canal we visited a couple of National Trust properties. Lyme Park was really appealing as spring has awakened the flowers & the blossoms in the gardens. This was "Pemberley" in the BBC adaptation of Pride & Prejudice.
Old & quirky won my heart in Little Morton Hall. When the Trust acquired this property in 1938, it was untouched by modernisation which is a rarity. This is how it looked in Tudor times, and it had a moat to boot! Nice day for afternoon tea in the gardens.
We had the pleasure of joining the locals (Human-Nature Escapes CIC) on a walk through the bluebell woods. They are looking into buying a narrowboat as part of their vision & came to see our boat.
We felt invigorated by the walk & enthused to continue by paying our respects to James Brindley, pioneer canal engineer. I hope he appreciated that we walked 9km to see his grave. The church had to be at the top of a hill didn't it. "Are we there yet?"
Finished the week passing through the Harecastle Tunnel. Our longest yet at 2.6km which took 42mins to complete.
