Watt Knot Travels

We did get our ride down the Anderton Boat Lift & took a couple with us from Yorkshire. No trip boats running, so we offered ours with tea & biscuits. We were told they have a boat lift in China modelled on this one that carries 20 boats down a 100ft drop. We had a lovely 2 days on the River Weaver. Now we can move on.
Middlewich didn't want to let us go as we got stuck in the "Big Lock". Too much water leakage meant we couldn't equalise the water to get the gate open. Both paddles up to keep the water filling, & we still couldn't move it. Luckily you can always find help from a passerby.
I am very impressed with my contribution to the lock count this week; 35 in 3 days. We were very lucky to have sunshine this week to make it an enjoyable few days. I have run the City to Surf up Heartbreak Hill a few times, but now I can say I've done it on a narrowboat.
The Wheelock flight of 8 gave us a couple of firsts, we got twins! Twin locks that is. Increases our chances of finding one in our favour. At the 7th lock I met a "wanker". And I do mean wanker. He did a stand-up performance just for my benefit while I was working the locks. All in a days work. Now tucked up on the Macclesfied Canal.
