We tried to leave Worcester bright & early on Sunday morning, but she wasn't letting us go. We couldn't even get as far as the first lock for the day which was only 200 metres away. Why? You ask? Well the water level in the Diglis Basin had dropped by 1 metre according to a local's estimation. That was enough to ground us on the bottom of the canal 50 metres before the lock for 2 hours. How frustrating! One does get used to accepting the unexpected in the boating world. Just chill & call the CRT for rescue. To get us afloat again we had to borrow water from the pounds above us without draining them of too much water to make us run aground again.
Rob & Caroline turned up to speed us through the locks of the day, managing to moor up in time for the Grand Prix.
Our mission for this week was to help Ortomarine get their latest boat afloat. I got to be a tradie for a few days as well as the tea lady. My resume has now swelled with new found skills. It was great working alongside the team. We had a lot of fun & sense of achievement. We would have loved to have stayed longer.
