Panama

With camp being just 4 days a week, we were a little worried about how we’d fill the long weekend. Overall the kids seem to be happy here, but it’s hot, which leads to a lot of complaining and turns into sibling squabbles. In short, we are grateful for camp days. But we ended up having a great weekend!

Friday morning we met with Floating Doctors and planned out the clinics we will help with in July. We’ll take small skiffs out to villages 4-5 hours away and camp. It sounds like it’ll definitely be “type 2” fun, but hopefully a good growing experience for us all. That afternoon we biked about 20 minutes out of town to a restaurant with a pool on the beach. It cost $10 for the kids to swim which was worth every penny!

Saturday we took a water taxi to a beach on the neighboring island. We had lunch and swam in the ocean for a bit before a huge storm rolled in. We took cover in a little beachside pizza shack with several other families. There was a small break in the storm about an hour in so we waved down a water taxi and made it home just before the rain picked back up. No pictures of this crazy afternoon.

We decided Sunday is our cleaning day. Blythe was thrilled with this news - the other two - not so much. Walker is earning points for doing his summer reading and writing homework, which resulted in a soda outing with dad. Us girls decided to check out the new nail salon in town. Blythe wanted us to all wear dresses, so we got dressed up for our girls outing. I’m so grateful for these slow days and all the time we get to spend together. And we’re also excited for camp to start back up tomorrow :)
