September has flown by! It’s hard to believe we have just two months left in Bocas. Walker asked if there was a way to keep all the people we love in so many places with us when we leave. I told him our heart expands with each new friendship and adventure we experience and the memories will be with us forever. Dennis flew back to Alaska mid September to work in Utqiagvik for two weeks. He’s been eager to work and they paid for his travel so it was a great opportunity for him! His life on the Arctic Ocean is quite different that ours on the Carribean Sea. His pictures are beautiful and he’s happy to be in cooler weather for a bit.

From Bocas to Barrow

We have filled our time with Dennis being gone with game nights, cookie baking, and “skiing” in the kitchen with oven mitts & long underwear on! I joined a few moms for a mosaic workshop. The instructor said she could tell I wasn’t trying my hardest, which we all laughed at later, but overall was a really fun two days! Two of our friends have the same birthday so they hosted a 3 course dinner at a local restaurant complete with live music and a professional photographer. Sam’s husband was also in the states so we were each other’s date for the big event. We had two babysitters for the 9 kids at our house! A really great night out with friends.

Blythe was Star of the Week in kindergarten. She got to bring in pictures of her family, show & tell everyday and special story time by mom to her class on Friday. Blythe loves school and has the best group of buddies. She and her best friend, Zayna, frequently skip recess so they can organize their cubbies together. It’s been so fun seeing Blythe grow her confidence and develop friendships this year.

Lots of fun beach days rounded out the rest of the month. My favorite thing in Bocas is the water taxi back home at sunset after a full day at the beach. I love seeing the kids watch the water, taking everything in. Wet hair, sandy faces and well earned exhaustion - doesn’t get much better than that!
