Panama

Our mission for today was to find bikes, a soccer ball and umbrellas. It was hot today so the walk into town was slow and sweaty. Walker has been begging for a soccer ball and the girls were eager to get umbrellas after yesterday’s downpour. We found a soccer ball and umbrellas in the first shop we stopped in. I was less hopeful about finding bikes for us. It was fun walking around Bocas Town - a little bustling town center with shops, restaurants and lots of people walking around. Bocas does not have the metropolitan feel of Panama City - it has much more of a small tropical island feel. The town has grown some since Dennis and I were here before, but our favorite rotisserie chicken spot and the cafe we sat in while Dennis submitted his residency applications are still there!

As we walked home we came across a bike rental shop that had two bikes with kids seats on the back. We hadn’t seen any with kids seats for sale or rent, so we were pretty excited to find these. They had one smaller bike that was perfect for Walker. We negotiated a decent price for a 6 month rental of all 3 bikes. We were all thrilled with our new mode of transportation!

In the afternoon we packed up our bikes and rode out the road a bit to a small swimming beach. The water was so warm! We spent an hour and a half swimming and splashing in the waves. We even had a seaweed mustache party! We loved being able to ride to and from the beach so easily on our new bikes. The girls brought their umbrellas with us everywhere today but not a drop of rain to be seen. We hung out in our backyard and played soccer till sunset. Another wonderful day in paradise!
