What a treat to have Walks, Donsi and Mera visit us for a week! The kids knew their grandparents were coming, but Mera was a big surprise. Lots of hugs and tears by all for the joyous reunion! The kids had Monday off from school so we all took a water taxi out to Red Frog beach. We hiked the shortcut and spent the day jumping in the waves, building sand castles and enjoying beachside refreshments. Mera joined the kids at school the next few days helping out in the preschool and kindergarten classrooms. She really got to put her Spanish to use and all the kids adored her! Walks and Donsi were special lunch time readers in kindergarten as well.

With the kids at school, us adults enjoyed waterfront lunches, beachside cocktails and exploring other islands. After school, we kept up with our regular activities of soccer and swimming. It was fun getting to show Walks and Donsi what our day to day life looks like! We said good bye to Dennis for 3 weeks on Friday as he was off to Barrow again for work. We spent the afternoon at Coquitos for a birthday party. Lots of fun in the water with friends while Donsi and I got foot massages! We checked into the same hotel as my parents for the weekend. We rented a family room with bunk beds!
On Sunday we had a private tour out to the Zapatillas Islands. We were thrilled to have spotted the sweetest mama and baby sloths on our way out there, as well as a pod of dolphins swimming alongside our boat! Our guide cut up fresh coconut while we all swam in the crystal clear waters. Walks and Walker did some beach trash pickup as Walker has grown increasingly interested in environmental issues. He even wrote a letter to President Biden recently and received a very nice response!
We are so grateful for the wonderful family time. Such a special time for us all!
