Normal Day

Much to the girls’ excitement, we woke up to rain this morning! We spent most of the morning playing soccer and collecting rain in the yard. The new umbrellas were out in force. I went for a run and Dennis checked out a jiu jitsu gym in town. Dennis was drenched in rain when he got home, but the rain really does feel refreshing in the heat. We had a leisurely day, biked into town for groceries, made meals together, played games and read. Walker said it felt like a “normal” day but he still enjoyed it. They all said they like riding bikes to the grocery store the best. We divided up our goods between our bike baskets to get everything home.

Later we rode our bikes into town and got drinks and dessert at one of the waterfront restaurants, Buena Vista. We sat on the edge of the deck and put our feet in the water while enjoying the view. It was dark when we got home but our street was filled with people watching a group of dancers and drummers. We parked our bikes and watched and listened. We soaked in the sounds of the drums, the waves, and the warm night air. I must’ve been so caught up in it that I didn’t take any pictures, but definitely a night to remember.
