Birthday parties

We were invited to two birthday parties this week. We’ve connected with quite a few of the “boat families”. We have learned that Bocas is a popular spot for families sailing the Caribbean. It’s been fun meeting these families and hearing their stories. There are lots of boys Walker’s age in this crew so he’s always excited for these hang outs. On Wednesday some families at school said one of the boat families was inviting anyone with kids to their son’s 11th birthday party at Coquitos (our favorite beachside pizza shack). We’d never met these folks but thought “why not?!” We got a water taxi and proceeded to spend the next 5 hours on this beach with several families. We all had the best time. We met a few new families and got to know some of the others better. Walker joined a group of kids that explored the island together, played tag

and swam for hours. One of the highlights was watching Blythe join in with the “big kids”, swimming and playing tag with everyone. Heading back to Bocas at sunset was the perfect ending to a pretty perfect day.

We were invited to another party on Sunday at the same beach but a different restaurant. Blythe wasn’t feeling well, so she and I stayed home. Dennis took Walker and Rose and it sounded like another fun filled beach party extravaganza. Walker said he was playing with a group of kids - he didn’t know their names, they just called each other by the state or country they were from. It’s been great connecting with so many families with kids from all over the world!
