Today was cooking class day! And after falling in love with Thai food slowly but surely, I was super keen to learn some tricks of the trade. Our teacher, Min, took us to the market to watch her buy ingredients and then taught us how to cook up a storm. Despite being very impressed by the teaching and the cooking, I wasn't quite as impressed with the girl next to me who kept prodding my food as it cooked. Although, to be honest, at this point in time, I've eaten worse things...
You should have seen the bloat in my stomach by the afternoon, I could've been carrying twins! We each cooked 4 dishes and after each one, we would sit down at the table and eat together. Now after 3 spring rolls I was feeling a bit full but after the Pad Thai, soup, curry and soup, that was Cody out, for sure. But Min had other ideas and insisted that we finished up with fruit shakes and fresh fruit too... In all seriousness, I had a super day and am interested to find out how many of the ingredients actually exist back in Cornwall!
In contrast to the quality of food I had seen earlier in the day, my evening meal (as if I needed it..) was from a very cramped, very smelly market with puddles of meaty, dirty water under the tables. I went for the vegetarian option tonight, solely due to being put off meat after seeing pork intestines scattered across the pavement...
