Siem Reap, Cambodia

Of course, whilst in Siem Reap, I had to go and spend some time visiting the Angkor temples. After much debating with myself, I opted for awakening in time to watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat...so there I was at 6am with sleep still sticking the corners of my eyes together, already sweating like a fat man at a buffet, waiting for the most beautiful sunrise of my life. It took me until about 6:20 to realise that the sun had actually now risen but due to the clouds, there was no view to be seen. Well you can imagine

just how chuffed I was that I got up at 4am to watch thousands of disappointed Chinese tourists sulking anyway. Inside the temple, I was blessed by a monk. For those of you that have not experienced this, it involves very fast Khmer mumbling and a large amount of water splashed at your face with a paintbrush. I quickly evacuated Angkor Wat after watching a couple fight with a monkey over a banana and then realising that I had a rucksack full of bananas on my back....whether it sounds like it or not, I actually had a wonderful day (which is flipping lucky considering the price of my ticket!) but the highlight of the day, or week for that matter, would still have to be finding a crunchie chocolate bar in a mini mart.
