Unfortunately, after a great final couple of days in Hoi An, filled with cocktails and beer, it was time to say goodbye to my fabulous uncle and auntie as they sent me off on the back of a motorbike across the Hai Van pass with the wonderful Huu Thang To. This experience was absolutely incredible, and as we climbed up into the clouds, the views of the beach and sea were some of the most amazing I have ever seen. (How many adjectives can Cody use in one paragraph...). Unfortunately, the views as we descended weren't quite as good with the clouds and rain making their debut appearance...but fear not, Thang had the perfect solution - extremely fashionable matching ponchos that not only covered us head to toe, but also blew up like balloons as we sped through the wind. Was my quality raincoat really not enough to keep my dry from the drizzle, I ask myself...? As the day-long trip came to an end and we entered into the city of Hué, I was really struggling to keep my eyes open and actually woke myself up at one point as my helmet knocked into the back of Thang's. On the back of a motorbike is the last place I ever imagined falling asleep, that's for sure (and I'm just glad my head dropped forward and not to the side...)! Little did I know that Hué would be the place where I would experience my first hot chocolate in asia, I mean with temperatures as low as 22degres, you have to protect yourself from hyperthermia!!!
