Estella (28 kms)


Today we moved through the wheat fields and vineyards of Navarra; through villages filled with crumbling noble homes – Maneru, Cirauqui, Lorca, until we finally reach Estella. illustrious past and its historic links to the Pilgrim Way. Mass this evening is in the fortified royal church of San Pedro de la Rúa, where the kings of Navarre once swore their oaths to protect the rights of their subjects.

There was huge church/fortress across from the hotel. We all (sans Mark who is taking his turn at daily massages) walked the square. We joined back up at the hotel for dinner, and then an early night as tomorrow is huge.
