Camino 2017

Off and up today from Astorga to Foncebadon through the plains of Castile and Leon. It is a long day punctuated by several false summit climbs to a rustic mountain hotel where the owner was proud to say that they had removed their bed bug infestation. If it wasn't for the Camino, Foncebaden would have ceased to exist. It had shrunk to one woman town and today still seems cast back in time.

We picked up new guides today including Juan Carlos (Judy's better half) who will carry us through until we meet up with Judy again.

It was a hearty meal and off to an early sleep. The beds left something to be desired but overall we have been happy with our accommodations. Three Monestary's, several contemporary and historic hotels, as well a the obligatory case rural. Private baths in all! The Cruz de Ferro awaits tomorrow....
