After breakfast, we cross the Alto de Mostelares (up, up and up... killer except for the Kellogg's who actually trained correctly) and into the broad expanse of wheat fields that lead us through the dusty Castillan villages of Itero de La Vega and along one of the water channels of the Canal de Castilla to Boadilla del Camino. It was not hard to imagine the canal traffic many years ago- small boats filled with supplies pulled by horses. The lock gates had been removed but the framework remains.
Once in the town of Fromista we visited an old church that is one of the best examples of Romanesque architecture in Spain. The importance of Fromista is evident in the fact that there were several pilgrim hospitals here. Our small hotel is located beside the albergue and across from the Church of St. Martin. Sadly our rooms were above the bar! It's true that the Spanish don't eat until 8ish and the festivities move on from there.
The group is holding up well and all waiting for the famous "walking into shape phenomenon".
