Camino 2017

Today we walk through the Xan Xil Valley which is very beautiful. Actually, many of us felt the last two days were the prettiest. Which may have something to do with finally becoming accustomed to the pain.....Lynn is now able to calculate to the minute, based on averages, his and Sue's arrival times. Bill and Diane march along and having Diane as part of the group instantaneously raises the positive outlook quotient while Susan unofficially is everyone's peaceful walking partner.

Our journey today ends in Sarria, the site of an ancient Roman settlement that was repopulated in the 8th century by Bishop Odoario of Lugo. King Alfonso IX of León, who favored the city with several important building projects, died here in 1230. Today, Sarría is one of the largest towns in this area. We stay at the lovely Alonzo IX Hotel and everyone quickly calculates and washes the necessary "clothes to finish". Somehow (nobody asks) Mark only needs two pairs of socks.
