This was technically a rest day for us...12 k (never thought that would seem like a rest day). Before we began this short day of walking, we had a guided historical tour of the city and Cathedral. The stained glass is something to behold and Lynn was intent on capturing its beauty. Antonio Gaudi of Barcelona fame also designed a lovely building here in Leon. One of only three that he designed outside of Barcelona.

Once we reach the outskirts of Leon, in a town called Virgin del Camino, we took the south branch of the Camino and left the highway to the cars and trucks. This is a pleasant walk through typical Castillan countryside. We will shuttle back to Leon for a good night’s rest at the same hotel. Tomorrow it begins again, 25km.
