Portland is great. I think I could definitely get on board with living in a place where there is a bookstore that is bigger than most city libraries. Powells City of Books is an entire city block, it has over five rooms - colour coded for your enjoyment - and I could have moved in. I could've hidden in a dark corner and happily lived my life in that shop, there was even a case in case I got hungry.
We had booked our first Airbnb so after Jamie dragged me out of heaven on Earth we went to our house for the night. Our host was a woman called Renee, and her dog, Ursa. Both were incredibly welcoming and sat with us a while, talking about our respective travels before showing us to the basement flat. If you're anywhere near the Portland area and want to give Airbnb a try, find this woman's place, when we arrived there was blueberry coffee cake..need I say more?!
After cooking up a storm (Jamie) and reading our new purchases (me) we had a home cooked meal followed by guacamole and chips - I made the guac.
After a great nights sleep it was finally time to go see the Goonies house!!
It was a bit of a drive but Astoria was worth it, the county jail seen in the first scene of the film is still there and it's filmed with Goonies stuff, not gonna lie, I lost my shit a little. I now know that it's totally possible to fan girl about a film older than you.
