America on the road

We checked into a hotel in Canton, about 20 minutes from Detroit, and got a great nights sleep. The morning of Thursdays the 13th, we woke up, got dressed and went to Max and Erma’s (Bar, Grill, Gathering Place) to meet Steve, a friend of Jamie's from camp. While reminiscing and eating some great food - Jamie had a burger, I had asparagus and deep fried mozzarella, my shin is staring to really dislike this trip but my stomach is loving it - we found out that Steve was going to be at the Detroit game too. The Lions up against the New York Jets, should be a relatively interesting game, considering the Jets just lost their QB to locker room in-fighting. After lunch with Steve we went back to the hotel, where Jamie proceeded to nap until it was time to go in for the game. We were still so full from lunch, we decided to skip dinner and grab a beer before heading to Ford Field. I accidentally forced Jamie into paying $9 for two american flag pins - it wasn't my fault the dude put them in my hands and wouldn’t let us go, then he practically took money out of Jamie’s wallet. When we got into the stadium we spent some time in the pro shop before heading upstairs to find our seats. When sat down I realised how good they were, I could see the whole pitch, it’s a pretty good thing we’re sat kinda far up, we’ve got a better vantage point. I learnt that singing the National Anthem before sports isn’t just a baseball thing, the woman who sung before the game was really good actually. Four quarters, three and a half hours, one beer and countless questions later the lions stood victorious in their first preseason game. It was awesome to watch, I’m not sure I reapplied how much I enjoyed american football before. Since we had a while until we have to be back in Chicago to pick up Karen and Nigel we decided to go see Bam’s Castle.
