America on the road

After leaving Memphis we headed to Kentucky, the land of fried chicken. As an avid whiskey drinker (me) and reluctant sidekick (Jamie) it would’ve been a crime not to swing by some of the distilleries on the famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail, starting with my favourite provider of sweetened whiskey, Wild Turkey. Unfortunately, the tour time closest to our arrival was already full but they had a tasting session available - with a video tour that taught us:
That in order to be called a bourbon it must be distilled in Kentucky.
Bourbons take 4-5 years to be ready.
It’s well hard to understand people on videos that have think Kentucky accents/don't enunciate.
Kallan likes expensive whiskey.
Jamie doesn't like whiskey much at all.

After Wild Turkey, on the way to our next destination, we stopped off at the Four Roses, Makers Mark and Jim Beam distilleries (taking advantage of a complimentary tasting at the last). We decided that Jim Beam should be the last of the day and headed to Louisville. For dinner we opted for something new, a Texas Roadhouse, so guess what they had on the menu.
!?When there is roadkill on the menu does that mean its really Roadkill?!?!
A great nights sleep later and we were back in the car on our way to Indianapolis, detouring via some outlet malls. it was at Edinburgh Outlet Mall that I realised that I had in fact left my cards (all of my money) in the top draw of a nightstand of the place we stayed the night before. Luckily we weren’t too far away, about an hour and a half without traffic, unfortunately we got stuck in a boat load of traffic. So we didn’t quite make it to Indianapolis, there’s always next time?
