America on the road

The flight from Gatwick to Fort Lauderdale was as painless as can be, I watched several menial tv shows and Mr & Mrs smith, whole Jamie slept through The A-team.
The Food on the plane was surprisingly edible and almost even made up for my mum not cooking for me before I left the head of the Empire.
While we might not have proper summer’s in England, what we do have is air that you can’t really feel, you know it’s there but it is a thing that is far lighter than you, in Fort Lauderdale, it is not.
Going through passport control took less than 3.4 seconds as would baggage control if not for that ever-present friend of mine - Murphy, or more accurately his law. Jamie’s bag came off of the carousel quickly though lacking what most people would call essential in a travel bag - a bottom, by which I mean it came off with a fuck off hole where previously there had not been one.

Fort Lauderdale / to Orlando

It was about 9 o'clock when we finally left the terminal, after speaking to 4 of probably the least helpful humans in the world, but onwards to car hire!
By the time we arrived at the Alamo desk our spirits, especially Jamie’s, were understandably low. It was at this point that Yolanda, who could well be an actual angel appeared and offered us a road trip affecting decision would we like the compact we originally planned on picking up, or would we instead like a convertible - Camaro or Mustang - for the same price! To see which we picked just look at the picture.

Leaving Fort Lauderdale was stressful to say the least, I was trying to read a map in the dark and Jamie was trying to get to grips with the fact that he was driving a car that could definitely kill us both, and caring guy that he is didn’t want to kill me on my first night in a new county. What a babe.
Any way after finally managing to

navigate the leaving, we managed to get onto the I595 towards Margate without incident, apart from going through a toll road in the wrong lane, fingers crossed there’s not fine :p
It took a little longer than the proposed 2 hours but the drive was successful and we reached Clive (my uncle) and Rochelle’s house in one piece.
After saying goodbye to our gracious hosts we once again hit the road (I so wish one of us was called Jack) and set on our way to Orlando, home of Harry Potter World.
Got into the (M/)Hotel late, went to sleep awoke the next day to my most anticipated day ever!

Kallan - Best: Seeing Clive & Rochelle
Worst: When I thought I’d gotten us totally lost and started freaking out (wasn’t though, so *thumbs up emoticon*
Jamie - Best: Getting the Camero for the same price as a nissan would’ve cost us & Driving to Orlando
Worst: Figuring out how to drive the Camero on american roads & finding out that the bag he used to transport his things was totally ruined.
