In the time since I’ve had a chance to sit down and write lots has happened;
We were joined by Karen and Nigel,
We’ve been through 11 states (six of them with Nigel and Karen),
We went white water rafting,
To the theme park capital of America,
And eaten lobster!
Of course, I've also been crazy lazy, what with the not writing, I’ll try to catch up but lets be honest you'll be getting the extreme cliff notes version.
Chicago, IL: After exchanging the car - again - we picked up Karen and Nigel at O’Hare Airport, the hotel was sleepable, which is always a plus. The next day after breakfast, we headed into Chicago proper, which is super cute. We went to see the art exhibits, and after that went to the Skydeck. Did you know that the tallest building in Chicago was commissioned by Sears. I mean, it was bought out by the British - because what haven’t we taken at one point or another - but you can go up to the 103rd floor, 1,353 feet off the ground and step out onto a glass box. I learned that Nigel is quite scared of heights and that apparently taking off your flip flops will help when you have to step out of the side of a building.
Sandusky, OH: The capital of the rollercoasters, was AWESOME. Also Nigel and heights again, funny as anything. Do you know what’s not funny at all? Being thrown up on.
I used to think that the story all parents tell about eating too many sweets and drinking too many fizzy drinks then having fun will equal vomit and no more fun for the rest of the day. Well that shit is true as a motherfucker, not for any of us, we aren’t arseholes. However, whilst on one of the rides - a spinning one no less - someone sitting very close to us decided to upchuck the contents of his stomach, by the looks of the bits that landed in us it was mostly coke. Then there was a lot of heaving from Jamie and I, and a lot of name-calling of us by Karen and Nigel.
Ohiopyle, PA: We went white water rafting, it was pretty cool. Could've done with something a little more extreme but it was enjoyable. Then we went to Pittsburg to Dave and Busters where I learnt that Holiday Karen has zero filter and probably shouldn't be allowed out lose in the general population.
Washington DC: Saw the white house, kinda meh. The capitol building is pretty cool. The Lincoln memorial is pretty darned epic though. That was a cool dude.
Baltimore, MD: We went to the pop culture museum in Baltimore I saw lots of comics, then I bought a bunch which was great for me. After seeing the museum for me we went to Charm City Cakes for Karen, lucky for us they were open so we got to eat cake, I love cake, the icing was amazing.
New York City, NY: So there are a fuck ton of tolls to get into New York, obviously. We were staying in an AirBNB in Hells kitchen, we arrived late but had a manic couple of days in the big apple. We went up the empire state and to the top of the rock, we saw times square and saw a show, not Taye Diggs but Newsical it was good, and I also got to see Taye Diggs in person so I won’t cry about it too much. I got to see some family and the others biked around central park, we all went on The Ride, recommended only if you’ve seen New York before. There are things we missed obviously, but its only a short journey from Canada, I’m sure I’ll see you soon, and I hope I’ll keep not seeing some thing I didn’t.
We dropped Karen and Nigel off at JFK, which was kinda sad and headed towards Vermont, via Long Island. Then a bunch of stuff happened we went through Vermont and New Hampshire on our way to Maine. The were pretty I guess. Maine was great we ate lobster, still can’t figure out if it’s the lobster or the fact that I can smother it in butter snd not be judged that I like.
After Maine it was time for Boston (again) via Providence Rhode Island, in Boston we went to see the Cheers bar, because that’s what you do.
We’re spending the night in Connecticut soo...
