America on the road

North Dakota really doesn’t have much going on. We headed to Regent - which is a ‘city’ but has basically nothing in it, it’s cute but not much going on - to see the Enchanted Highway, a collection of larger than life metal sculptures, which are kind of cool. Having seen all the Regent had to offer we checked our map and it was off to Mount Rushmore.
Mount Rushmore is one of those things, you can’t really attempt to do an American Roadtrip without adding it to the itinerary, so we did. On the way we stopped off for lunch in a town called Sturgis, which is currently gearing up for the Sturgis Rally, a huge biker event. I guess that’s why Sturgis is full of biker bars, like there’s biker bars, a steakhouse and a mcdonalds. We opted for biker bar for lunch where I proceeded to eat a full pound of bone-in buffalo wings. Yum.
Mount Rushmore is epic, it’s grand and awe inspiring. It’s not quite as awesome as the hoover dam but what is?
Obviously Washington looks the best, and from certain angles it looks like Teddy Roosevelt is kissing Abe Lincoln, but overall definite gold stars for one of the most ‘Merica stop offs of the trip so far.
We drove some more and spent the night in Nebraska, where we saw a house that was painted as the American Flag (which was on the list) and are now on the road again to a Hot Springs in Wyoming.
