Dwayne's European Tour

We woke up to our first cool morning since Turkey. We threw on our hoodies and walked towards downtown Ljubljana. We were in search of the Open Kitchen market that is held on Fridays here. We first came across a beach volleyball tournament that was being held in the middle of the city. A court and bleachers had been set up right beside a beautiful park. We watched for a bit then continued on. Man, it made me miss playing good volleyball.

We found the triple bridge which was right beside where the market was happening. This Open Kitchen was amazing. Think a large, outdoor food court but one that serves amazingly, delicious food.

Ljubljana

There were probably about 30 vendors, all serving a variety of food. That was also a bonus...variety! We checked out every stall and made mental notes of what we wanted to try. Josiah and I shared a wonderful waffle and succulent ribs. I would eat here everyday. There was also an amazing farmer's market right beside the food market. Piles and piles of fruits and vegetables – so many different colours. We picked up some raspberries, pears, and a bottle of freshly squeezed apple juice.

After we walked to the train station to check out tickets to Werfen and Bled. Then it was time for our room escape adventure. Josiah, Abby, and I booked a ticket to try and escape from a puzzle room. Meanwhile, Jen happily had time to herself to stroll around town and read her book. The room escape was so much fun. Josiah and Abby were amazing at solving all the puzzles. We really worked well as a team. I was so proud of them! We actually solved all the puzzles and

escaped from the room with five minutes left on the clock.

When we finished, we met up with Jen and then took the funicular up to the castle that overlooks the city. It was a beautiful blend of ancient with modern in this current design of the castle that is now a museum. The views of the city were gorgeous. From there we walked back down the path to the Open Kitchen market. It was dinner time and there were so many things we didn't get to try from at lunch time. Abby and I shared some sort of crepe that was cut up and smothered with berries. Then I finished up with some Pad Thai. Because we didn't have any gelato, we had to stop at a bakery, which they seem to have on every corner here, and picked up a sweet treat for home. Today was a great day!!!
