Day 2

Today we leisurely woke up and got ready for exploring Salerno. After breakfast we headed out on the town. We strolled down to the water and walked to the historic center. There we found the Duomo di Salerno, which was impressive. Lots of interesting iconography of biblical heroes, popes, and influential families of the area. The crypt was cool as it had many different paintings on the ceiling depicting bible stories.

After the church, we wandered looking for lunch. We ended up lost in some back streets of a residential area. None of us really minded. After we found lunch, we went in search of a bus that would take us

up the mountain to the castle on the top.

There was not much to see inside the castle but the views of Salerno and the surrounding area were gorgeous. Also breathing in all the fresh air from the fully-treed forest was invigorating.

After the returning from the castle, we grabbed our first gelato. It was fantastic. I think we're going to put on a lot of pounds. good thing we're walking a lot everyday. Speaking of which, we were pretty tired out from all the walking in the heat which we did today, so we headed home for a rest.

After the rest, we headed down to the beach for a swim. It was refreshing. The kids had a blast - they love the water. When we finished swimming, we pulled the kids away for pizza. Jen and I left the kids at the apartment and we went out for a little dinner date.
