Dwayne's European Tour

We were up early for a half-day trip to Bled. We enjoyed the tour company we used yesterday so we decided to go with them for our trip to Bled. Originally, we wanted to take the whole day there but the forecast called for rain and we didn't want to be stuck outside all day soaking wet. It was a good call.

The drive to Bled took about 40 minutes. It was drizzling a bit when we arrived. We were dropped of at one of the boats that takes us over to the island with the church on it. It was so quiet and peaceful out on the lake. It was a short row over and by the time we landed the rain had pretty much stopped. We walked around the island, which only

takes 5 minutes, and stared at the beautiful blue water. There isn't much to the island, and you'd have to pay extra to go inside the tiny church, but the scenery is amazing. Josiah and I also found a geocache on the island.

We headed back to the mainland for a coffee break. We ate cremeschnitte, which is a cream cake, in a little cafe that overlooked the lake. The cremeschnitte was so good that we had to order another piece. Our taste buds liked that but our stomachs didn't. We found another geocache by the cafe as well. After the break, we drove around the lake and up the mountain to the castle. There wasn't really much to this castle but you're pretty much just up there for the fantastic views of the lake and the valley. There was a little museum but all the museums are starting to look the same now. While we were up at the castle the sun decided to come out.

We then headed for home, where we were dropped off in the city center so we could find some lunch. Lots of places were closed today because it is Sunday. However, many of the restaurants along the river were still open. After lunch, the kids played at the playground near our apartment then we just relaxed for the afternoon. Later in the evening, Jen and I walked back to town and found another restaurant along the river to have supper. The kids were happy with the chocolate croissants we brought back for them.
